SwingamaThing: Yorkshire Swing Band for Hire

Testimonials

Here are a few things that have been said to us recently:

Razzmatazz jazz and swing with a fizz... this band created magical music that brought our wedding party to its feet.
Professional, helpful and absolute fun - highly recommended.

Running a weekly swing night has meant coming into contact with many bands and to date, none of them have captured the feel of 1940’s quite like swingamathing. The quality of the musicians, the outfits and the overwhelming presence of the group was definitely impressive. Aside from their professionalism, it was also great to find that every member of the band was enthusiastic, vibrant and warm! The audience love them and so do we. Swingamathing are now a regular feature at my night and I can’t recommend them enough!

Hi suzanne and the troop,
Just thought I would drop you an e-mail to thank you for a fantastic new years eve. Your band were absolutely superb and the regulars have not stopped talking about the evening all week. The whole band were very friendly and accomadating and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Thank you so much once again, you are perfect for our venue and we would be delighted to confirm next new years eve as a booking if you are able to do it.

'Jazz Scene' for Thursday 24th November 2011. From C.J.Worsdale.
Although 'Jazz into Doncaster' voluntary committee does not always 'get it right' when selecting live bands to perform at it's events, few could accuse it of not providing a wide variety of attractions!! Most recent of which was a new band to the 'Con' Club, 'Swingamathing' who refreshingly base there vibrant style on the Swing Era and the 'Jump-Jive' of Louis Jordan, Louis Prima and other 'greats' of the genre.

Led by lead singer and founder Suzanne Tomlinson, the seven piece outfit offered up two infectious sets of varied and lively numbers, including Swing is the thing / Is you is or is you ain't my baby / Peggy Lee's hit OK, alright, you win / Pennies from heaven/ Boogie-woogie bugle boy of company 'B' ( with Suzanne joining vocal forces with the band's two girl sax players, evoking the pioneering harmonies of The Andrew Sisters) , all of which delighted the responsive audience and even attracted pairs of jivers to 'strut their stuff' on the dance floor!!

Suzanne and company are certain to be invited back to the 'Con' Club for a return gig pretty soon...And if plans come to fruition, will be among the attractions at Doncaster Markets Jazz Day in May....Meanwhile, why not 'check 'em out' on their website www.swingamathing.co.uk ? And maybe purchase one ( or more!! ) of their CD's, which will make ideal stocking-fillers for fans of Swing Music!!
